Two sad stories on the news tonight...
3 tornadoes hit Virginia, killing one, injuring 200. Natural disasters frighten the crap outta me because they're so un-preventable and leave so much physical and emotional damage in their wake. I'm still recovering from images of Katrina *shudder*. Currently making dua for family of a friend who live in that neck of the woods and hoping they're all okay.
Austrian man admits to raping and fathering 7 children with his own daughter who, along with some of the kids, was kept trapped in his basement for 24 years and never saw the light of day. Can you believe this?! Seriously, this is something out of a bad, scary episode of SVU. What is wrong with the world? This is one man who deserves the death penalty but it seems that the heaviest sentence he may get under Austrian law is 15 years in prison. Luckily he's already 73 so maybe he'll kick the bucket while in prison. Awful, shocking stuff. Makes you truly thankful for the lives we lead, doesn't it?
What with these news stories, fires in California, and a 40 lb. metal pole flying off a truck on Rt. 128 in Waltham and smashing through a motorist's car (although he got away okay).. it's enough to put anyone off the Late News timeslot altogether.
