Existential Angst

Things happen. Usually for the best. But we are thankless creatures and we question our Maker. We ask: "Why? Why does it have to be this way?". Because sometimes things seem to happen for no reason at all. They baffle the mind and send us into deep confusion and despair as we struggle to find answers, to uncover the Truth.

Take for example, the following video.



Yes, SuperTed. I am sure you remember him. Many 4:15pm cartoon sequences on Ch. 33 began with episodes of this show. But to this date, I am unable to understand..

1) Why was SuperTed thrown away like a pile of rubbish? What was so wrong with him?
2) Why was there a Spotty Man flying around that night? Do they just circle the Earth at random?
3) If the establishment clearly thought there was something wrong with him, why did Spotty bring SuperTed to life and offer him redemption in the form of super powers? Is this meant to be some kind of parable to help geeky children believe they too can be rescued by a spotted alien from outer space?

You'll agree, these are deep questions. And, 20 years later, I am still searching for the answers.
