It's been a week since I finished "No God But God" by Reza Aslan but I never got around to blogging about it. Can't be bothered to type today so, in short, it was good.
Why?
a) Aslan has a fantastic writing style that keeps you engrossed from start to finish.
b) It's incredibly well-researched and articulate.
c) For once you get to hear the shiah point of view without the histrionics and rhetoric mandatory in a live explanation.
d) Who'da thunk that Sufis were actually a legitimate sect of Islam?
e) And in general, it's nice to get a point of view that's different from (and questions) the over-simplified, Wahabist version of Islam that we were brainwashed with by the UAE school system.
